Hit and run, car break-ins, vandalism reported

special-buttons_blotterThe driver of a PT Cruiser was arrested Tuesday on charges of colliding with a parked vehicle while high on fumes inhaled from a can of compressed air. Meanwhile, police investigated the theft of tools from a shed behind a Catawba Avenue residence, and a Charlotte woman alleges a truck driver tried to run her over on Old Statesville Road. THURSDAY FEB. 5, 6:30am, 19500 block Center St. – Sometime between 7pm on Feb. 4 and 6:20am on Feb. 5, unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s unlocked tan Toyota Sienna van and stole two GPS devices along with $50 cash. The estimated total value of the items stolen is $200.

SATURDAY, FEB. 7, 6:05pm, Fresh Market, 20623 Torrence Chapel Road – Unknown suspect(s) stole approximately $150 in groceries from Fresh Market.

MONDAY, FEB. 9, 5:50pm,  17400 block Tuscany Lane – Unknown suspect(s) broke the left rear window to an AT&T company Ford F-150 parked at Tuscany Lane. The estimated cost to repair the broken window is $200.

MONDAY, FEB. 9, 9:54pm, 19040 Victoria Bay Drive – Police stopped a vehicle on Victoria Bay Drive, and on investigation found the two occupants had marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both occupants were charged by citation and released at the scene.

TUESDAY, FEB. 10, 2pm, 18800 block Vineyard Point Lane – A woman was holding a Chihuahua that had been injured in a fight with her lab/collie mix when the Chihuahua bit her on the heel of the right thumb, resulting in three small puncture wounds.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 11, 10:50am, 21200 block Catawba Ave. – Unknown suspect(s) removed a Dewalt Hand Drill valued at $100 and an Earthwise Pole Saw valued at $260 from an storage building from behind the victim’s residence. Total value of the stolen items is $360.

THURSDAY, FEB. 12, 9:39pm, 18800 block Old Statesville Road – A Charlotte resident stated that at approximately 9:37pm a known suspect attempted to strike her with a truck on Old Statesville Road.

SATURDAY, FEB. 14, 10:22am, 20200 block Amy Lee Drive –  The victim said between Thursday at 10am and Friday at 8pm, unknown suspect(s) damaged the door to a gated fence value at $1,000.

TUESDAY, FEB. 17, 11:55am, I-77 northbound between Exit 25 and 28 – A northbound driver hit slush on the side of I-77 and slid off the right side of the road, colliding with the Exit 28 sign but suffering no injuries.

TUESDAY, FEB. 17, 6:53pm, 21400 block Aftonshire Drive – The driver of a 2002 gold PT Cruiser collided with a car parked along Aftonshire Drive, then drove across the road and hit a mailbox. He was apprehended after fleeing the scene, and upon further investigation officers found that he was intoxicated from inhaling from a can of Duster Blow-Off canned air. The driver was arrested and charged with inhaling fumes for intoxication and hit and run.
