Joshua Sloop, 36, also was injured in Sunday morning’s altercation and had been undergoing treatment at Carolinas Medical Center.
After the Sunday attack and a previous incident the week before, Sloop now faces a variety of charges, including two felony counts of first degree burglary, one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of felony stalking, one felony count of violating a domestic violence protective order with a deadly weapon, and several misdemeanor counts of assault and threatening.
Police were called to 20620 Willow Pond Lane on Sunday around 4:30am, for a report of a domestic assault. Officers found a man had forcibly entered the home, and assaulted the woman with a knife. The victim fled to a neighbor’s home to call police for help, and the man followed her. During an altercation there, the suspect was also injured.
Meanwhile, the woman Sloop is accused of attacking also received knife wounds in the domestic dispute, but her injuries also were not life threatening. She also has been discharged from the hospital, a police spokeswoman said. “She does have some significant injuries, however she will recover,” the spokeswoman added.
Sloop charges after an incident on Tuesday, April 7. He is charged with breaking into the same Willow Pond home around 2am while the resident slept, and damaging her $200 phone to prevent her from calling the police.
