A 23-year-old Cornelius man who admitted to having six to eight shots of whiskey was not seriously hurt, but was charged with DWI early Sunday when he drove off Jetton Road at high speed, near North Beatties Ford Road. Meanwhile, a Cornelius man was charged Monday after he pulled a gun on another driver on West Catawba Avenue. A Davidson driver caused $20,000 damage to the railroad crossing arm at Bailey Road and wound up charged with hit-and-run. And a Meridan Street man was charged after police found 1.6 lbs of marijuana at his home. Read on for the details.

THURSDAY, MAY 21, 9am, NC 115/S. Main St. – NC 115 was closed for several hours after a one-car wreck Thursday morning damaged a utility pole. A police spokeswoman said nobody was hurt in the crash, but the road had to be closed while a utility crew replaced the pole. The road reopened around 1pm. No further information was available.
TUESDAY, MAY 19, 11pm, 20100 block of Henderson Road – At 2pm that day, a woman let someone she knew borrow her blue 2003 Dodge Truck. By 11pm, the person had not returned it. The vehicle is valued at $7,000.
TUESDAY, MAY 19, 12:55pm, Mary Ardrey Circle – A resident reported a case of identity theft. Sometime between Jan. 1 and May 19, an unknown suspect his used his personal identification information to fraudulently file his 2015 tax return.
MONDAY, MAY 18, 7:54pm, police headquarters – A 20-year-old Cornelius woman complained to police that she had been harassed by someone she knows. A 20-year-old Raleigh man, who attends UNC Charlotte, was charged with cyberstalking.
MONDAY, MAY 18,, 1:29pm, Big Bitez, 20430 W. Catawba Ave. – A 27-year-old Davidson man reported being assaulted by a man who pointed a weapon at him. The Davidson man said that between 1:15 and 1:28pm, a man pulled beside him while driving on West Catawba Aveneu and “threatened to blow him away,” while pointing a black handgun at him. Police later arrested a 63-year-old Cornelius man and charged him with assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats. He was released from jail after posting $5,000 bond.
MONDAY, MAY 18, 11:35am, policed headquarters – A man came to police headquarters to report a theft from a home under construction on Old Canal Street in Antiquity Cornelius. The man said sometime between Friday, May 15, at 5pm and Monday, May 18, at 7:30am, unknown suspect(s) entered a home under construction and stole two ladders, valued at $220 total.
MONDAY, MAY 18, 9:36am, West Catawba Ave., between Bethel Church and Henderson roads – A 39-year-old Huntersville woman in a 2012 Cadillac struck a 2014 Honda driven by a 60-year-old Cornelius woman on the front bumper, as the Honda was making a left turn. The first driver said she was distracted when she looked down to adjust the air conditioning while approaching the intersection. Police used their security camera system to review the crash, and noted that the first driver went through a red light. The Huntersville woman was charged with failure to stop at a red light. Both vehicles had about $1,500 damage.
SUNDAY, MAY 17, 11:31pm, 19300 block of Meridian Street- Police were called for a domestic disturbance, and the arrived to find a known suspect. He later was was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of marijuana, possession of stolen firearm, and possession of firearm by convicted felon. Police seized 1.6 lbs. of marijuana, 2 9mm pistols, clear plastic bags, and a scale.
SUNDAY, MAY 17, 9am, 22340 Country Club Lane – A 72-year-old resident told police that sometime between May 16 at 8pm and May 17 at 8:45am, his blue and white 1991 Four Winns Horizon 200 boat was stolen from his dock. The boat is valued at around $7,000.00.
SUNDAY, MAY 17, 12:54am, 17000 block of Jetton Road at N. Beatties Ford Rd. – A 23-year-old Cornelius man was headed west on Jetton Road, near John Connor Road, when he drove through the median and ran off the road just past North Beatties Ford Road. The man told police he had consumed six to eight shots of whiskey before driving, and had been traveling at least 10 miles per hour over the posted speed limit of 35mph. He was taken by ambulance to CMC Huntersville with minor injuries. He later was charged with DWI and speeding. Damage to the median sign on Jetton Road was estimated at $1,000. A homeowner also reported that damage to her lawn was about $1,000.
SATURDAY, MAY 16, 12:17am, Bailey Road Park – Police on patrol spotted a silver 2005 Honda minivan backed into a parking spot, with heavy damage and the air bag deployed. A look at park security cameras showed a driver backing the car into the spot at 7:13pm Friday, with the air bag deployed. Officers discovered the nearby railroad crossing arm at Bailey Road and NC 115 had been damaged at 7:11pm. Davidson police were called and went to the house of the owner, on Lorimer Road in Davidson, and brought him back to the scene. The man told police he was going to Bailey Road Park to watch a soccer game, and as he turned one Bailey Road, he hit the crossing arm. He said his car did not appear to drive very well so he brought it to the park and left it there. The man told police he didn’t know he was supposed to call police. Norfolk Southern Railroad Police were notified of the wreck. Damage to the crossing arm was put at $20,000. The man was charged with hit-and-run. His car had about $5,000 damage.
FRIDAY, MAY 15, 4:08pm, 17300 Poole Place – A 34-year-old resident told police sometime between Wednesday, 05/13/2015 at around 2100 hours,
and Thursday, 05/14/2015 at around 1400 hours, someone was able to use her personal
information to file for unemployment.
FRIDAY, MAY 15,, 2:30pm, Griffin Brothers Automotive, 19141 W. Catawba Ave. – The business reported that a customer had failed to return a white 2011 Chevy loaner vehicle after borrowing it on April 29.
FRIDAY, MAY 15,, 12:47am – Sushi at the Lake, 19732 One Norman Blvd. – A 36-year-old Cornelius man told police he had been assaulted by a 27-year-old man at On The Roxx, 19712 One Norman Blvd., at around 12:04pm. Police are investigating.
THURSDAY, MAY 14,, 6:14pm, Catawba Avenue/Exit 28 I-77 northbound ramp – A 29-year-old Mooresville woman in a 2005 Honda and a 55-year-old Charlotte man in a 2006 Ford were both westbound on Catawba onto the ramp when the Honda collided with the rear of the Ford. The Frod driver complained of lower back pain and was taken to CMC Huntersville by Medic.
THURSDAY, MAY 14,, noon, Carolina Springs Auto Spa, 19807 W. Catawba Ave. – A 60-year-old Mooresville woman was in a 2015 Honda was waiting to go through the drive-through car wash when a Cornelius woman in a 2006 GMC pickup hit the Honda from behind. The pickup driver told police the vehicle accidentally rolled forward.
THURSDAY, MAY 14,, 10:29am – A 41-year-old woman from Cheraw, SC, called police to report that between April 24 and May 13, someone gained access to her MasterCard and used it to purchase items at $248 worth of items at Home Depot in Cornelius, and $21.60 at an East Coast Wings restaurant.
THURSDAY, MAY 14, 10:20am, N. Main Street/NC 115 at Potts Street – A 17-year-old Davidson women was northbound on N. Main Street waiting to turn left onto Potts Street when her 1999 Honda was struck from behind by a 2004 Jeep driven by a 17-year-old Huntersville driver. Police video showed that the first driver did not use a turn signal and that the second driver did not stop in time. Both cars have about $800 damage, but were drivable.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 8:05pm, Tuscany Lane – A 48-year-old resident reported that a Raven 25 ACP pistol was missing from his home. He hadn’t seen it for a month and believes it was stolen. Its value is about $125.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13,, 10:13pm, Catawba Avenue at I-77 Exit 28 – One car exiting the highway on ramp rear-ended another car that was stopped at the traffic light. When police arrived, several people were gathered around the cars. One person in the stopped car complained of dizziness and neck pain and was taken by ambulance to CMC Huntersville. The driver of the second car told police that the driver and a passenger in the stopped car had traded places just after the wreck. Police investigated and charged the driver with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13,, 1:02pm, 18700 block of Oakhurst Blvd. – A 68-year-old resident told police someone broke the driver’s side window on her 2001 Toyota Camry, causing about $180 damage. Nothing was missing.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13,, 11:27am, Goodwill, 19710 Kunkleman Dr. – An employee reported that a known suspect took $40 worth of jewelry.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 8:30am, 19900 block of West Catawba Avenue – A 57-year-old man reported that someone broke a window of his 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche. Nothing was taken, but damage was estimated at $300.
TUESDAY, MAY 12, 7:15pm, 18700 block of John Connor Road – A 38-year-old man reported that between 1:30 and 6:15pm, someone broke into his work truck, a 1999 Ford F-150, while it was parked in the neighborhood. $600 in cash was stolen.
TUESDAY, MAY 12, 10:36am, Belle Isle Drive – A man told police his bank, Fifth Third, had notified him about three unauthorized charges on his wife’s MasterCard. The charges, all from Bed, Bath and Beyond, totaled $303. Police are investigating.
