The West Catawba Avenue Walgreens experienced shoplifting deja vu Sunday and Monday, with two incidents within 25 hours. Meanwhile, a Pecan Street resident told police someone tried to blackmail him for $500 by threatening to to post a sex tape of him to social media. Cornelius police are also investigating vandalism at a Bailey Road Park shelter, where suspects spray-painted “Slender is Watching You” in broad daylight last Saturday. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4, 10:43pm, 8100 block Dunmore Dr. – An officer conducting a routine stop for a stop-sign violation found marijuana and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle. The driver was charged by citation for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 12:19pm, 21300 block of Pecan Street – A man told police that someone he knows known suspect attempted to blackmail him for $500 by threatening to post a sex video of him on social media.
SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 2:33am, One Norman Blvd. near Sefton Park Rd. – Offices stopped a white Ford Explorer for driving with no headlights and running a stop sign. Driver was arrested for driving while impaired. During a search of the driver incident to arrest, a small amount of marijuana was located on the driver.
SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 4:09pm, Bailey Road Park – Shelter #2 at the park was vandalized with the message “Slender Is Watching You…” Vandalism was committed between 3:12 and 3:36pm by an unknown suspect. The estimated value of damage done is $50.
SUNDAY, JUNE 8, 12:26am, Torrence Chapel Rd. at West Catawba Ave. – Officer stopped a red Chevy Impala for suspicion of the driver having a suspended license. A small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located inside the vehicle.
SUNDAY, JUNE 8, 5:10pm, Walgreens, 19631 West Catawba Ave. – Two suspects entered the store and stole four boxes of Allegra, three bottles of Abbevia cold, two bottles of Robitussin cold/chest, one bottle of Robitussin max nighttime DM, two bottles of Wal-tussin cough, and one bottle of Robitussin DM. Total estimated value of stolen items $218.47.
SUNDAY, JUNE 8, 6:00pm, 21300 block Nautique Boulevard – Between 6pm Saturday and 10am Sunday unknown suspect(s) stole two high back bar stools, valued at $2,600.00, two square end tables, valued at $360.00, and two pillows, valued at $100.00, off the victim’s patio. The total value of items stolen was $3,060.00.
MONDAY, JUNE 9, 5:57pm, Walgreens 19631 West Catawba Ave. – A known suspect came into the store and took, without paying, a 18 pack of Budweiser can beer. Upon further investigation, the suspect was found in possession of open containers of alcohol, had consumed underage, was possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia and was also found in possession of the stolen 18 pack of Budweiser. The suspect was arrested and later released to a guardian.
