Trailer with ’69 Camaro stolen; $1,980 taken from woman at church

police blotterAn unknown suspect stole a trailer parked at Mattress Express, inside of which was a 1969 Chevy Camaro valued at $100,000. Meanwhile, police are searching for a suspect who stole $1,980 from a woman’s pocketbook during a worship service at Church of God. Police are also investigating a series of vehicle break-ins at the Mariner Villas subdivision. Read on for details.

INCIDENT REPORTS

THURSDAY, DEC. 11, 8am, Mattress Express, 19601 Statesville Road – Sometime between 8pm Wednesday, and 8am Thursday, an unknown suspect(s) stole a 24 ft Diamond Cargo enclosed trailer valued at $6,500, which contained a 1969 Chevy Camaro sports car valued at $100,000. Police are investigating.

FRIDAY, DEC. 12, 12:02am, 7510 block Mariner Cove Dr. – a woman reported seeing three suspicious men in the Mariner Villas subdivision around midnight. Upon further investigation, it was determined that 17 vehicles in the area had been entered by unknown suspect(s), though nothing was reported missing.

FRIDAY, DEC. 12, 8:30am, Norman Island Dr. and Swansea Lane – between 9pm on Thursday and 7:30am Friday, unknown suspect(s) entered five vehicles parked along Swansea Lane and Norman Island Drive. One of the vehicles, a tan 2002 Nissan, had a Garmin GPS and CDs stolen, but nothing was taken from the four other vehicles.

FRIDAY, DEC. 12, 9:20am, 17590 Old Statesville Road – An officer conducted a traffic stop on a car with an expired registration. After further investigation, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located in the center console of the vehicle, and the driver was arrested by citation for both charges.

FRIDAY, DEC. 12, 5:39pm, intersection of Catawba Ave. and Bethel Church Road – A westbound vehicle made an unsafe u-turn at the intersection, causing an eastbound driver to swerve out of the way and collide with another eastbound car. None of the drivers needed medical attention.

FRIDAY, DEC. 12, 7:45pm, 11300 block Heritage Green Dr. – Between Sunday, Nov. 30 at noon and Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3pm, an unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s garage and stole yard tools valued at $250 total.

FRIDAY, DEC. 12, 11:30pm, 19310 block Meridian St. – Police were called about a fight at a Meridian Street residence. A known suspect was issued a citation for being intoxicated and disruptive, as well as resisting, obstructing, and delaying officers. The suspect was transported by medic to Novant Huntersville for further evaluation.

SUNDAY, DEC. 14,3:06pm, Church of God, 21401 Hickory St. – The victim stated that while she was at The Church of God, an unknown suspect(s) stole $1,980 from inside of her pocketbook.

SUNDAY, DEC. 14, 6:28pm, Mulligans Restaurant, 19100 block Peninsula Club Drive – Between 4-4:10pm, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s cell phone. The estimated value of the phone is $700.

SUNDAY, DEC. 14, 7:05pm, 8610 block Preserve Pond Road – Between 9pm on Tuesday, Dec. 9 and 7am on Wednesday, Dec. 10, unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s unlocked 2014 black Toyota Sequoia and stole his wallet containing items valued at a combined $94. The unknown suspect also charged $232.65 to the victim’s credit card.

MONDAY, DEC. 15, 10:41pm, Juanita Ln. – Officers on patrol in the Jetton Cove subdivision saw a large group of people walking down the roadway. Upon further investigation, the odor of marijuana was found to be in the area, and one suspect was found to be in possession of a multicolored glass pipe containing marijuana residue. The suspect was charged by citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
