Unknown suspects broke into five cars parked in the Peninsula neighborhood over the past week, stealing a total of $624 worth of goods. Meanwhile, police investigated the theft of a pressure washer from a Harbor Mist Road residence, and arrested a driver on hit and run and DWI charges after he struck a parked car at Saeed’s Bar and Grill on Catawba Ave.. SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 12:55am, Saeed’s Bar and Deli, 20832 Catawba Ave. – The driver of a black 2012 Mercedes backed into a silver Honda Civic in the parking lot, causing $1,300 in damage. Officers later pulled the driver over on North Main Street, near Davidson Street, and found that he was drunk. They arrested him for hit and run and driving while impaired.
SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 6:23pm, Carolina Cones, 20801 N. Main St. – A known suspect who previously had trespassed on the premises entered the parking lot and approached people to beg for money.
SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 10:50pm, 21130 block Kimbrough Ln., Mill Creek neighborhood – Unknown suspect(s) stole and vandalized a scooter, which was the only transportation for the family there. SUNDAY, APRIL 19, 9:58am, Halyard Point Lane, Double Eagle Drive, Meta Road – An unknown suspect broke into five cars parked in the Peninsula neighborhood Sunday. Two of the cars – a Nissan parked on Halyard Point Lane and a Mercedes on Double Eagle Drive – had nothing missing. A Vera Bradley wallet, purse, and a small telescope were stolen from an unlocked grey 2005 Mercedes parked on Double Eagle Drive. A gas card was taken from a 2014 GMC Acadia parked on Meta Road, and three $50 shell gift cards were stolen from a black 2012 Lexus parked at Halyard Pointe Lane.
SUNDAY, APRIL 19, 11:15am, 18000 block Harbor Mist Road – An unknown suspect entered the victim’s garage and stole a $350 Troy pressure washer.
SUNDAY, APRIL 19, 11:27am, KFC, 20220 block W. Catawba Ave. – The driver of an Enterprise rental truck struck the roof of the fast-food restaurant while trying to pull into a drive-through, then fled the scene. The accident caused an estimated $500 in damage.
MONDAY, APRIL 20, 4:06pm, 11600 block Truan Ln – Sometime between April 18 and April 20, unknown suspect(s) broke into the victim’s 2012 Chrysler. Once inside, they stole the victim’s black wallet, and later used his debit card to make fraudulent purchases.
MONDAY, APRIL 20, 7:18pm, 8600 block of Forest Shadow Circle, off Northcross Drive – Someone spray painted a black line down the side of the victim’s white 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, and fired 10 BBs at the windshield. The vehicle suffered an estimated $650 in damage.
TUESDAY, APRIL 21, 7:20am, 19700 block Smith Circle – An unknown suspect stole the victim’s Popmotor moped, valued at $1,000.
